Frantic, anxiety-driven vibes on "The Jackpot". "Rona City Blues" adds a juke feel to the proceedings. Mr. 9 continues to explore the spaces between genres to interesting effect.

Kode9 is back in the game. Apart from remixes for Mr. Fingers, Burial, video game music project ‘Diggin In The Carts’, and the track ‘Cell3’ on 2019’s Hyperdub & Adult Swim compilation, this is his first proper solo release since the 2015 album ‘Nothing’, and first solo 12” since 2013. This two-tracker features a couple of speedy little rollers; A-side ‘The Jackpot’ is a toxic, off-key zigzagger that coils and recoils, while the reprieve comes on B-side ‘Rona City Blues’, with its lush pads, stuttering synth melody and coasting drums. The first of several Kode9 releases for 2021, the transparent 180g vinyl comes housed in a heavyweight see-through yellow PVC sleeve with three holographic stickers of the 3rd Ear Cat, limited to 500 copies.

How hard it is to find the right words to describe this EP. The layers of daily sounds in every song, the free-form of raw emotion and pure vulnerability “Antidawn” and “New Love” give creates such nostalgic feelings which somehow give life to active memories. But then glitchy, strange disorientated noises make you feel as if you are fever dreaming. It comforts me and embraces me in ways no other music has done before. I have been so mesmerized by Burial’s music, this one I hold dearly. sul1i

Been a big fan of Sully since 2008 when he made one of my all time favourite Dubstep tunes 'Phonebox', been amazing to watch his transition into probably the best Jungle producer in the world right now. Some producer! richfurness
